Slanted Theatre creates artist-led, culturally safe spaces for Asian-identifying creatives to experiment, develop new work, and build community. There are several ways to engage with Slanted, depending on your relationship to the work and your capacity.
Opportunities for Artists
All public opportunities – including Showcases, callouts, workshops, auditions, and updates – are announced through our social channels.
We encourage artists to follow us there for the most accurate and up-to-date information.
Pitch a Project, Co-Production, or Collaboration
We welcome project pitches, co-production proposals, and collaboration ideas from artists and organisations interested in working with Slanted.
Slanted focuses on small-scale, sustainable, artist-led work. We take on a limited number of developments and co-productions each year, depending on capacity and alignment. Project ideas, co-productions, and collaborations are usually considered during our quarterly planning cycles, which helps us stay care-led and realistic about capacity.
To pitch a project or propose a partnership, please email slantedtheatre@gmail.com with:
- any funding considerations (if relevant)
- a short project summary (1–2 paragraphs)
- your role and any collaborators
- the scale, timeline, and format you’re imagining
- why Slanted feels like the right home for this idea

The Slanted Collective
Slanted is held by a rotating collective made up of artists and collaborators we have previously worked with across productions, developments, and Showcases.
The collective grows organically through practice. Artists may be invited to take on producing, creative, or support roles on future projects after working with Slanted, based on interest, trust, and capacity. Decisions about new projects, collaborations, and collective involvement are typically considered at quarterly meetings, ensuring the work remains care-led, sustainable, and aligned.
Contributors step in when they are available, pause when life or work becomes full, and return when timing allows. Because Slanted works across cities, much of our communication and planning happens online.
Who We Work With
We support artists across the Asian diaspora, including South Asian, East Asian, Southeast Asian, West Asian/Middle Eastern, and bi- or multi-racial artists. Since 2021, Slanted has collaborated with over 200 Asian-identifying artists across Australia.
